Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas season and a blessed new year celebration. 2018 promises to be a busy year for everyone, but readers always make time for their favorite activity—reading. That’s why I’m excited to share with you my great news. I’ll have two new books release in 2018, as well as at least one new novella. I often write about what’s going on in my life and sometimes I forget to share book news. So here’s a round-up of what to expect in 2018.
Beneath the Summer Sun releases on Jan. 16
The second book in the Every Amish Season series, Beneath the Summer Sun is a story of fractured love, hope, and second changes. Here’s the blurb:
Jennie Troyer knows it’s time to remarry. Can she overcome a painful secret
and open her heart to love?
It’s been four years since Jennie’s husband died in a farming accident. Long enough that the elders in her Amish community think it’s time to marry again for the sake of her seven children. What they don’t know is that grief isn’t holding her back from a new relationship. Fear is. A terrible secret in her past keeps her from moving forward.
Mennonite book salesman Nathan Walker stops by Jennie’s farm whenever he’s in the area. Despite years of conversation and dinners together, she never seems to relax around him. He knows he should move on, but something about her keeps drawing him back.
Meanwhile, Leo Graber nurtures a decades-long love for Jennie, but guilt plagues him—guilt for letting Jennie marry someone else and guilt for his father’s death on a hunting trip many years ago. How could anyone love him again—and how could he ever take a chance to love in return?
In this second book in the Every Amish Season series, three hearts try to discern God’s plan for the future—and find peace beneath the summer sun.
Beneath the Summer Sun will be available wherever books are sold. It’s currently available for pre-order on-line.
Book #3 in the series, Through the Autumn Air, releases on September 18, 2018. More about that later.

Amish Heirloom novella gives sweet Iris her chance at love
Those of you who read Upon a Spring Breeze, the first book in the Every Amish Season series, will remember Iris Beachy. Aidan Graber courted her because his true love was married to another. She’s a sweet woman and I hated to see her suffer. These characters are my friends! So she has a new chance at love in An Amish Midwife’s Dream, one of four novellas in The Amish Heirloom novella collection, which releases April 18. This is a stand-alone story, so you don’t have to have read Upon a Spring Breeze to jump into Iris’s story. (But I hope you will!)
Here’s the back-cover blurb:
Iris Beachy serves as a midwife in her district where she longs for a family of her own. When her friend’s brother Mahon Kurtz seeks her help in delivering the baby of two young teenagers who have sought refuge in their town, they begin to see each other in a different light. Unprepared for parenthood, the young couple leave their baby girl behind in an antique crib quilt resembling the one destined for Iris when she becomes a mother. Mahon and Iris come together to take care of the baby as they try to find her parents, and they begin to see new possibilities for their future.
Other authors in this collection include Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, and Kathleen Fuller.
Contract News: Two romantic suspense novels forthcoming with Thomas Nelson Publishing
I’m thrilled to announce I’ve signed with Thomas Nelson to write two contemporary romantic suspense novels set in San Antonio, Texas. The first one, entitled Tell Her No Lies, will release in January 2019. Some of you may know that I started my fiction writing career by publishing two romantic suspense novels, also set in San Antonio: A Deadly Wilderness and No Child of Mine. Since then I’ve written 11 Amish romances and five Amish novellas. I’ve loved every minute of it and plan to write many more, God willing. However, my first love is romantic suspense so I’m over the moon at the opportunity to write in this genre again. These are clean, spiritually sound stories with lovely romances that also will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning the pages. I hope you’ll give them a chance.
Here’s the inside scoop on Tell Her No Lies:
Is family defined by bloodlines or can it be the unconditional love of a true friend? As children, Nina Fischer and her sister were plucked from foster care in Florida and brought to Texas by a wealthy uncle they’d never met after their mother went to prison for selling drugs. Now, as an adult, Nina loves her adopted father and wants to please him, but she’s chosen her own career path as a photographer and poet. Choices state district court judge Geoffrey Fischer can’t appreciate. When she finds him murdered in his study on a night when they’re home alone, she’s the prime suspect and she must prove her innocence or face her own prison term. Is she her mother’s daughter, after all?
The two men in her life want to help, each for their own reasons. Can she trust her on-again, off-again boyfriend, attorney Rick Zavala, whose political aspirations seem more important than Nina’s tragic loss? Can she trust her friend, photographer Aaron McClure, or will he use their friendship to break the biggest news story of his career?
The discovery of a box of old letters and photos in her father’s things makes Nina realize her father has been concealing from her more than a fatal addiction. When her biological mother makes an appearance at Geoffrey Fischer’s funeral and asks to be welcomed back into her daughters’ lives, Nina is even more determined to find the truth about her past. Following the evidence leads her on a journey of discovery about her father’s shocking masquerade as a law-abiding, family-loving Christian. Unlocking these secrets could prove deadly, but it’s the only way Nina will ever be able to trust love again. Tell Her No Lies is an inspirational romantic suspense novel of 90,000 that takes its heroine on a journey that teaches her the nature of true love, trust, loyalty, and faith.
